Course: Careif QMUL Model Student Prize 2018

If you are in your first year studying full-time on a programme with the Faculty of Science and Engineering, a programme with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences or a BSc programme with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (Global Health, Neuroscience or Pharmacology), then you are eligible to apply for the Careif QMUL Model Student Prize.

The winning prize is £400, with two runner-up prizes of £150.

To apply, you will need to submit a short video, short blog or a poster on the following topic:

"How I will use what I have learnt from my first-year QMUL Model module to overcome barriers and support my future ambitions"

If you are unsure which of your modules is your QMUL Model module, your Personal Tutor/Academic Adviser or School Office will be able to advise you. If you a student in the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), you will have taken your Model elements across a number of modules rather than one specific module, but you can still apply.

The closing deadline is noon on Friday 15 June 2018.

Applications will be considered by a panel comprising senior academic staff and the results will be known by Friday 18 July 2018.

Successful candidates will be notified and will receive their Careif Model Prize in October 2018 when there will be a small presentation ceremony.

Please note that we may use entries to promote the QMUL Model to students; by submitting an entry your permission to do so is assumed.

- EXAMPLE E-PORTFOLIOS
  Your competition entry must be displayed in a QMplus Hub page. Here are some examples of e-portfolios to help get you thinking about how you may want to structure your competition entry. Please note, you are not restricted to using these layouts and these examples are simply ideas.
- POSTER
  If you are thinking about producing a poster as your competition entry, here are some examples:
- Educational trip to Brick Lane URL
  This poster includes text, image and video blocks and uses a two column layout.
- Trip to Canary Wharf URL
  This poster includes text and image blocks and uses a three column layout.
- World Class University URL
  This poster uses texts and images in a two column layout. Within the text, there are some words that have been hyperlinked to websites.
- VIDEO
  If you are creating a video for your competition entry, here are some ideas on how you can structure the page:
- A Day in the Life of Queen Mary URL
  In this example, the page is set to a one column layout so the video is displayed across the width of the page.
- 130 years of Queen Mary University of London URL
  In this example, the page is set a two column layout where the video is displayed on the left and supporting text is shown on the right.
- BLOG
  Alternatively, if you are creating a blog for your competition entry, here are some ideas on how you can structure your blog:

  In this example, text responses are shown in different text blocks. There are also video, pdf and image blocks amongst the text blocks.

  This example shows a two column layout where journal entries are displayed on the left and image blocks are displayed on the right.
